Prof. Dariusz Mikulski

Conductor and horn soloist, General Director and Artistic Director of the Warsaw Chamber Philharmonic, Vienna Royal Artist Orchestra and Amber Youth Orchestra. Guest conductor of the Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra in Bangkok; Professor, soloist and conductor of the World Brass Association; former General Music Director and Artistic Director of the Sudeten Philharmonic in Wałbrzych (2005-2010); Conductor at the Opera in Poznań and the Opera Wrocław; Professor at the Academy of Music in Łódź and visiting professor at Mahidol University in Bangkok, National Kazakh University in Nur-Sultan (Astana) in Kazakhstan and National University in Manaus (Brazil); Owner of CONCORNO Kulturmanagement Berlin, specializing in concert and tour organization, opera productions and artist management.

Dariusz Mikulski studied horn and conducting in Poland, Germany and Austria. He holds a diploma from the Academy of Music in Łódź, the State University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart and the Mozarteum University Salzburg, where he studied horn with Prof. Radovan Vlatković and conducting with Prof. Tomas Ungar and Nikolaus Harnoncourt. In 2003 he received his doctorate from the Academy of Music in Łódź. Dariusz Mikulski also completed studies at the University of Warsaw, Department of Management, graduating with a postgraduate degree in Culture and Arts Management.

He has won numerous awards at renowned music competitions – in Poland (Częstochowa, Gdańsk and Łódź) as well as international ones such as the “Prague Spring”, “Peter Damm Competition”, “International Horn Competition in Toulon” and “International Instrumental Competition Markneukirchen”.

Dr. DARIUSZ MIKULSKI is known as the founder and director of the symphony orchestra BIG PHILHARMONIE Poland.

The orchestra offers young musicians from many countries a unique opportunity with experienced colleagues and masters of their craft, elaborate together with samples and concert tours. With this orchestra more than 30 international tours since A. was founded in 2000 and until today. Graduated in Poland, Germany, Austria, France, Sweden and Italy.

He offers a broad repertoire, both as a conductor and as a horn soloist. He has recorded numerous CDs for several record labels such as ZYX, GENUIN and CONCORNO, presenting classical and contemporary works for horn, including piecesdedicated to him.

In his artistic career, Prof. Mikulski shows exceptional attention to monumental oratorios, cantatas and operas. In addition to symphonic music by great composers such as Beethoven, Brahms, Schumann, Mahler and Richard Strauss, he has a great interest in the art of opera, which is reflected in an intensive and long-standing experience with the works of Mozart, Rossini, Verdi, Mascagni, Puccini and others. His repertoire includes many operas such as “The Magic Flute”, “The Marriage of Figaro”, “Così fan tutte”, “Don Giovanni”, “La clemenza di Tito”, “The Barber of Seville”, “La Traviata”, “Aida”, “Nabucco”, “Rigoletto”, “Tosca” and others.

In 2015 he conducted the world premiere of the opera “El Greco” by George Hatzinasios at the National Opera in Athens. For this EU-supported production, he received a special prize from the City of Athens. This was followed by opera premieres at the Megaron Thessaloniki (“Aida”, 2016), MCAM Mahidol in Bangkok (“The Magic Flute”, 2017) and the Ernst Reuter Hall in Berlin (“La Traviata”, 2019).

Dariusz Mikulski is a professor at the Academy of Music in Łódź and a visiting professor at Mahidol University in Bangkok, National Kazakh University in Nur-Sultan (Astana) in Kazakhstan and National University in Manaus (Brazil).

Prof. Dariusz Mikulski was honored by the Polish Ministry of Culture as one of the youngest artists in the history of Polish culture with the “Gloria Artis” award in 2008. In 2011 he received the Silver Medal of the City of Berlin for his cultural contribution.
