Valerio Premuroso – pianist
Born in Milan, he completed his musical studies at the “Giuseppe Verdi” Conservatory in Milan, graduating with a unanimous vote. He has studied under S. Lattes, C. Pestalozza and M. del Vecchio. He has also studied composition with R. Dionisi and A. Guarnieri. Since graduation, he has been involved in intense concert activity, performing across Italy, several European Countries, Turkey, South America, and the Far East, also recording several broadcasts.
He has appeared as soloist with symphony orchestras, frequently with Orchestra Sinfonica della RAI (Milano) in both public performances and television and radio broadcasts, alongside renowned musicians and vocalists in both opera and Lied repertoire.
He was a professor at the piano faculty at the “G. Verdi” Conservatory in Milan, where he was also in charge of coordinating master classes and collaborative piano ensembles. He is often invited to juries of prestigious international competitions, both for solo piano and for chamber music, and as a teacher of master classes in Italy and abroad.
Musical consultant of the town of Monza, where he organized several important music series and events, from 2006 he has been the Artistic Director of the International “Rina Sala Gallo” Piano competition in Monza. This historic competition, a member of the World Federation of International Music Competitions in Geneva, has been instituted in 1967 and is continuing to prosper, having reached its 22nd edition.
On March 10 1998 his concert activity has been abruptly curtailed following a serious road accident, which has kept him away from performing for over a decade. From this, Mr. Premuroso emerged enriched by the trials that befell him; having recently returned the stage, he continues to display a highly refined sensibility and an unusual interpretative gift.
